First dates are already sort of tough. In most cases, you and the person have already made it clear that you are physically attracted to one another but now it's time to start forging an emotional connection.

THE FIRST DATE = QUESTIONS

Each party wants to get their questions answered to decide whether or not they will move forward. For the chronically ill, it can be difficult to figure out when to disclose our illness.

When do you say it?

How do you say it?

How will the person react?

Will that person play it cool and never call you again? Or, will they appear to understand your situation but eventually annoy you by treating you like an invalid? It's hard to know.

My mother has always told me that every relationship is a leap of faith. I look at disclosing my illness in the same way. My illness isn't going anywhere as far as I know so why not talk about it in the beginning? Take the leap! Anyone who feels the need to run away afterwards wasn't meant for you in the first place.

With my most recent relationship, not only did I take the leap but I directed him to this website before our first date. He was intrigued by my openness and my strength and we've been joined at the hip ever since. Fearless readers, listen and listen good. TAKE THE LEAP!

UNTIL MY NEXT TIME!

STAY TUNED AND STAY FEARLESS

XOXO
