5 Ways To Be Lazy and Why It Is Totally Okay

August 13, 2017

Hello Fearless Readers! Before I get into how much I have enjoyed basking in my laziness, I would like to share something with you all. IT IS PERFECTLY FINE! But wait....there's more! SOME PEOPLE WON'T UNDERSTAND AND THAT'S FINE TOO! Are you shocked? I was too (lol).

The list below is not only a follow up to my previous post, "When You Literally Need To Chill," but it is also a guide to reaching your lazy potential. To avoid having another panic attack, I have learned how to sleep more and literally lay around and do nothing. Of course, it's all strategic because as we all know, life doesn't stop for anyone. It's just an exciting feeling to be okay with relaxing. It is something that we 20-something chronic chicks need. So listen up ladies and listen good!

1. SAYING NO TO THE TURN UP

Lately, if I haven't gotten enough rest before an opportunity to go out and have fun, I just don't go. It's a hard decision to make but you have to for your body and your sanity sometimes. I've probably done it a few times in the last couple weeks and even did it today! It'll be hard to watch your friends on Snapchat enjoying the function that you're missing out on but you'll appreciate your well rested body more. TRUST ME.

2. COMING HOME FROM WORK AND ACTUALLY RESTING

I have to work an 8-hour day because I need an income, however, no one said I have to work for another 5-6 hours when I get home. Yes, I have other responsibilities such as school, church, Chronically Fearless, snapchat filters and such but I designate specific days to complete them now. Instead of being disorganized and stressed Monday through Friday, be organized and productive on Tuesday and Thursday then be relaxed and lazy on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. (See? That's strategic right? lol) It must be working because I can't remember the last time I stayed awake at night thinking about my mile long to-do list.

3. INTENTIONAL NAPPING

I've been a professional napper for years, especially in college. In the past couple of years, I think that I lost my napping skills a bit. I got into the habit of jumping from one thing to the next and if I happened to fall asleep during the day, it was accidental. I've travelled a lot over the last few weeks and while I was living it up, I also caught up on some serious napping. IT WAS GREAT! I learned that a nap-less existence is a straight shot to being burnt out by 30 and that's exactly what I don't want.

4. GET TO KNOW YOUR COUCH AGAIN

If the couch in your living room hasn't seen you in a while, GET REACQUAINTED! Just admit it. You miss it and it misses you too. Just sit and relax. Whether you're spending quality time with your sister eating ice cream, watching a movie with bae or literally looking out of the window, you're relaxing and that's all that matters.

5. PUT THAT PHONE AWAY GIRL!

If you get a call/text and you're mind and body are already in need of some good old rest and laziness, you should ask yourself the following questions. Can it wait? Is it an emergency? Is it something that'll take up too much of your energy? Do you feel like it? These are important questions because you'd be surprised at how much your phone uses your energy and adds to your stress. I won't even get into how draining social media can be sometimes. Once again, BE STRATEGIC. If you need to send calls to voicemail or stay off of Facebook for a few days, do just that. It helps.

I'm no expert but so far, doing these things has helped me tremendously and I can only hope that these tips will help other girls too. FIND YOUR INNER-LAZY GIRL AND DE-STRESS.
